Danny Gimondo Talks Wellness

Male Hormonal Acne Sufferer, and former WWE wrestler, Danny Gimondo, Talks Wellness

Danny Gimondo, former WWE wrestler, "Danny Inferno", talks with AcnEase about his life, where he is heading now to use his sport and wellness experience and about his special battle overcoming acne.

"My passion for wrestling started when I was 3 years old. When I was a kid, I loved watching what was at the time the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). Wrestling basically became a part of who I am as I went through life. Keeping in great shape and entertaining lit a fire under me. I worked really hard, and my dream came true when I was hired by the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) as "Danny Inferno".

Q: Can you tell us a little bit about what it was like having acne as a wrestler in the public eye?

Wrestling is this special type of entertainment that not only requires you to be in great physical shape, but appearance really matters.
I may have been the victor in many matches, but it was a daily struggle for someone like me who had acne. I needed to perform to the best of my abilities, while worried about what I looked like, who was looking at my skin and what they were thinking - and I was in front of millions!
I didn't know what to do to make my acne go away - I thought something was wrong with me, and I was embarrassed and infuriated that I had to deal with this. I worked out, ate healthy and really treated my body well - I kept myself in great shape inside and out. And I tried every acne treatment that you can imagine. Topical products like creams, gels and also prescription drugs - you name it, I tried it. It would get worse, then better and the vicious cycle always continued and never went away. And then one day a friend came to me who had been on AcnEase and said he saw great results. So I did what anyone in my position would do. I tried it - and today, I can confidently say that I WON the fight against my acne!

Q: How long did you suffer with acne?

For as long as I can remember! It was on my face and back, but mainly my back. My face is totally clear now, and my back, 90% clear. From what I understand, acne is harder to get rid of on your back because there are more stubborn sebaceous glands on the back, so to have it all just about gone is a huge triumph.
With that said, I would also like to mention that not only did I follow the recommended treatment instructions but I also try to follow a healthy acne-free lifestyle - I watch the foods I eat and include some that are better for those with skin issues, I exercise but not in excess, drink a lot of water, clean and moisturize my face (yes guys, I said MOISTURIZE!) daily and don't use skincare products laced with chemicals that will only do more harm than good to my skin.

Q: What made you define your new focus today? What are you doing now?

Having acne was one of the driving forces for where I am today as an exercise kinesiologist and personal trainer. I was always interested in fitness and how the body worked. When I had acne, I wanted to dig further into why I had it. I questioned why some foods were better for me and why some weren't. I developed an effective workout system to optimize my health, and wanted to learn how I could perfect it for myself and others.
Currently, I work on helping people achieve their personal fitness goals and lead a healthier and happier life. I work with many different types of people from athletes, to those with sports injuries, injuries from accidents or even different types of disabilities.
I also do many speaking engagements for D.A.R.E.
The most rewarding part of what I do today is seeing the improvement that people make and seeing them accomplish their personal goals. I can see the drastic improvement from when I first start to work with someone and how much they've progressed in a short time. It's incredibly rewarding.

Q: Any plans in the works?

I'm in the process of working on a video series designed for adults and those with sports injuries or disabilities on how to combine easy workouts with good health inside and out, with a natural focus, to obtain the ultimate in overall health wellness. Look out for it in the coming months!

Q: What advice do you hope other guys (or gals!) take away from reading this?

We're all human. And guess what? We all have these annoying issues, like acne, to deal with. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, you just have to be persistent and seek out the most knowledgeable people who know how to help you. Don't throw in the towel - hard work DOES pay off - it just depends on how much you really want it. If you don't want it that bad, it's simple, you won't succeed. But if you do, give it your all, over and above 100%, and make a commitment to finally get rid of your acne once and for all. You'll be so glad you did when you're on the other side... like me.
